Barnes TAC-TX BT Bullets .338 Diameter 200 Grain Solid Polymer Tip 50 Count

The TAC-TX bullet is a special purpose expanding all-copper bullet that is optimized around AR platforms. AR's feature shorter carbine length barrels which reduce the muzzle velocity when compared to a standard barrel length. To achieve the same terminal performance that Barnes fans are used to, we added a larger tip to allow more fluid to enter the nose and modified the bullet cavity to maximize expansion at lower velocities. These bullets track straighter through barriers and have better weight retention than lead-core bullets.

New for 2026- The .338" 200gr TAC-TX BT was purpose-built and optimized for the 8.6 BLK, with a focus on reliable performance from short-barreled platforms. Its unique profile promotes flawless feeding while helping maximize velocity, delivering devastating terminal performance even from compact firearms with barrels as short as 8".

The internal cavity was specifically tuned for the 8.6 BLK and its unconventional 1:3 twist rate. With a 1:3 twist, shooters can expect 1.8X diameter expansion down to 1,400 fps. The bullet also performs well in 1:6 twist barrels, although expanded diameter may be slightly reduced and the minimum expansion velocity slightly higher. Traditional 1:10 twist rates commonly found in legacy .338 CAL cartridges will stabilize the bullet; however, when used in higher-velocity magnum cartridges, some weight loss should be expected due to increased impact velocity
