Designer Information Bob Dozier: Knife-making has woven its way throughout Bob Dozier’s life. His interest first began when, as a boy, he learned from his grandfather how to forge files and springs into useable knives. For much of his young adult life, he made and sold knives that were well-recognized for their quality, hardness and edge holding ability. Thirty years after first making knives in a manufacturing setting, Dozier came to KA-BAR with a large side lock folding prototype. Working with KA-BAR’s team to modify the knife design for practical large scale production, the Dozier Thorn was finalized for sale at the end of 2001. Today, KA-BAR offers eighteen Dozier designed products and work is continually underway to develop the next great collaboration.
